The role of the IDVA is to provide safety advice and support to victims of domestic abuse who are at high risk as measured using the DASH Risk Assessment. This is a standard risk assessment tool used by most statutory and voluntary agencies in England.
We continue to provide an IDVA service in Gloucestershire and Devon. From 1 October 2015 Splitz Support Service was commissioned by Wiltshire’s Community Safety Partnership to deliver a specialist high risk service for people experiencing DVA and at risk of further harm. Funding was committed by Wiltshire Council’s Public Health and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), and supports the delivery of the DA strategy and the Police and Crime Plan.
The specialist high risk DVA service will provide an easy to access, high quality service offering a range of crisis-interventions, including support to access alternative accommodation, safety planning, healthcare services, working to reduce immediate risk and supporting individuals to stay safe. The service will support anyone aged 16yrs or above who is at high risk of harm from DVA irrespective of disability, ethnicity, sexuality or gender.
We also provide a Court IDVA in Gloucestershire, operating from the main domestic violence courts in Gloucester and Cheltenham. The Court IDVA provides additional support in court to help the victim express her views.
If you have been risk assessed at High or Very High then you should be receiving support from an IDVA.
